Historical Timeline Reflection

            Throughout the years, since the 16th century, photography has greatly evolved, from the "art" of cameras, developing into modern photography. All major accomplishments over the decades have been used as stepping stones to make photography the art it is today. Evidently, we are at a stage where theoretically, there is not much more to add regarding technological effects of photography. The only things to be done are to expand the ability for a camera to zoom in and out, and create more filters to change the colours and lighting of images. Therefore, everybody can be some sort of a professional with the good quality cameras available today. 

            Of the milestones I saw, a few stood out to me as to how they helped develop our current model of general photography. Firstly, in 1816, the first negative image was created, and I found this interesting because in a previous science unit I read about solvents and the process solutions and how they affect solidification. I am not sure if this makes sense, but solvents were used to create the print, and I took part in an experiment in which we used solvents for a similar purpose. Another milestone was in 1947 - 48 when Edwin Land developed a camera to both develop and print photographs in a one step process. Lastly, between 1998 - 99, the first mega pixel camera was created, creating images in high quality, as well as many photo-manipulating program softwares, used for changing filters, opacity, lighting, and more. Overall, over the centuries, growing innovations have made photography from extremely difficult to one simple tap. With the correct motivation, photography can continue to grow as one of the most compelling components of modern art.
